Signs of Drug Addiction

Drug addiction Signs

Alcohol:

• Slurred speech 
• Stumbling
• Changes in personal habits, such as a lack of desire to go to work or school.
• Often you can smell the alcohol on the persons breath.

Methamphetamine:

• Hyperactivity, lack of sleep. Any sort of "Uppers" may induce a sort of hyperactivity including the chatty kathy effect, where the person just wants to talk constantly. While this may be a normal behavior amongst some people, those that are usually of the quiet nature, now become very chatty, and will constantly talk. They may also have a desire not to sleep or eat, and may show signs of rapid weight loss, due to the nature of the drug, they may not sleep for days on end.

Cocaine:

• Very similar effects to "Meth".

Pills: Signs of prescription pill abuse varies by the prescription itself. Such as the following:

• Pain relievers: The individual may show signs of euphoria, be in a total state of peacefulness. Withdrawal signs often include, shakiness, where the individual has hands that can't stop shaking, or nervous twitches. They may also show signs of involuntary twitches in differing parts of the body including hands, feet, eyes, whole body jerks etc.

Marijuana:

• Problems with memory and learning
• Distorted perception
• Difficulty in thinking and problem solving
• Loss of coordination
• Increased heart rate
• Anxiety
• Panic attacks
